Meaning of Educational Technology

Friday, November 26, 2010

As what I've learned from this topic, educational technology is refers to the the process or "planned", systematic
method of working to achieve the plan outcomes. I also learned that technology is come from the greek word
techne which means craft or art.So, it is the the craft or art of responding to our educational needs.I learned also
when i read the book that educational technology is different from technology in education. The latter refers to the the application of technology in the operation of education institutions while the former refers to the application of
technology in the education process that takes place in such education institution

In other words, educational technology is very important because it helped us esp. as a student to enhance our
learnings with the use of different technology that can be use to developed more knowledgeable ideas. Thus, it is necessary for us to study more on educational technology.

As what this topic implies, that technology helped us a lot. So, for me it is a boon, which means; a blessings to us. Technology work out into our lives to become more prophetic , thus it help us to consume a short period of
time for a certain thing that is totally for a longer period of time , which make task easier for us to do.
With this new invention technology, many lives were brought to a prosperous living. As, therefore; it is one of gods gift.

The Roles of Educational Technology in Learning
As what this topic implies that technology helps the learners to learn more. Because this technology helps serves as the tool for learners that they can formulate their ideas and other thinking. So, with this chapter its talked about learners itself, the center here is the learner.I learned from the constructivist point of view, that educational technology serves as learning tools that learners learn with.

I learned also the difference between the traditional way and the modern way of teaching technology. So, in the traditional way, it is more on words. Like for example, the teacher will always stand and discussed the topics he had for the day. He must explained and make sure that he discussed and explained well ,not like in the modern way , that the teacher will show only a certain video to his students and let the students analyze the video.

Therefore; the roles of educational technology helps a lot in learning process of the learner.

Systematic Approach to Teaching
I've learned from the this topic that the students is the focus in this approach of teaching. In this teaching there are systematic approach and process to be obtained and considered, so that there will be a harmony in the learning. These process should be all in order so that you could easily get what  it meant. If one of this process will fails, it will also affect the outcomes, which is the learning. So,no wonder why there will be less learning because you do not follow the systematic approach.

In teaching also you must considered your students needs ,interests and readiness so that you can go further to the topics you want. Therefore its purpose is to ensure orderly relationship and interaction of human, technical and environmental resources to fulfill the goals which have been established for instruction.

I've learned from this topic about the cone of experiences is that , it should not be taken literally,we must come to think of it. Even from the base of the cone, which is direct purposeful experiences,we already use words.  This cone of experience must orderly sequence so that we can easily understand the things we wants to implies.

I learned also some of the implications of the cone of experience in the teaching - learning process. The first one is; we do not use only one medium of communication in isolation. Second; is we avoid teaching directly at the symbolic level of thought without the foundation of the concrete. Student's concepts will lack deep roots in direct experience. Third; is when teaching, we don't stock in the concrete.Let us strive to bring our students to the symbolic or abstract level to develop their higher order thinking skills.

So therefore, we must analyze first the things we want to be considered as most direct way of teaching the learners in order that they can easily get what we're talking.

Using and Evaluatimg Instructional Materials

                                I've learned that in selecting materials to be use in teaching , it is necessary that you know how it is to be used.If you have selected your instructional materials well, you can guarantee that the instructional materials will be effectively utilized.To ensure the effective use of instructional materials, we should have this kind of  perspective;
                        a. prepare yourself-means that you know already what the lesson objective and the outcome from the class after the session.
b.prepare your students-you should give them guide question for them to be able to answer during the discussion.
c.present the materials-the best possible condition.
                        d.follow up-the attainment of a learning objective.

So,to ensure that the instructional materials serve their purpose in instruction  we need to observe some guidelines in their selection and use.
